I am sharing a crazy story about how I made ₹20,00,000 in just 90 days using ChatGPT. Sounds unbelievable, right? Honestly, I didn’t think it would work out like this either, but it did. Let me tell you everything—how I came up with the idea, built it, and why I decided to sell it.
The Problem I Noticed
So, I’m a medical student. While I love medicine science, I also like exploring tech stuff. One day, I was thinking about how people use AI tools like ChatGPT for everything, including health advice.
But here’s the thing—most people don’t trust AI when it comes to medicines. It’s understandable because:
- AI isn’t always perfect. If someone types the wrong symptoms, they’ll get the wrong advice.
- It feels risky. People want to talk to an actual person when it’s about their health.
That got me thinking: What if I could make it easier for people to use AI for health-related stuff, without the risk of messing up?
My Solution
A techie friend of mine gave me this cool idea: Instead of letting users directly ask ChatGPT about their health issues, I could create a system that asks the user very specific questions about their problem.
For example, if someone has a headache, the app would ask:
- Where is your headache? (Forehead, back of the head, etc.)
- Do you have a cold? (Yes/No)
- Do you wear glasses? (Yes/No)
Based on their answers, the app would feed the right information to ChatGPT and get a proper reply. That way, the user doesn’t have to worry about typing the wrong thing, they just need to start the conversation and answer the question asked by GPT that too from options and the AI gives more accurate advice.
Now, I didn’t want to risk anything by making the app prescribe medicines (that can get you into legal trouble). So, I kept it simple. The app would:
- Help users understand their doctor’s prescription.
- Answer basic questions about common issues like headaches, colds, etc.
- Answer questions about prescription. (If I break the course do I need to start again or continue, Which tablet to take when like morning-afternoon-night or before meal after meal, etc)
How I Got Started
Here’s how I spent those 90 days:
-
Days 1–70: Building the App
- First, I spent about two months creating detailed questionnaires for different health problems. I wanted the questions to be simple but super effective.
- While I was doing this, my tech friend was busy building the actual app and connecting it to ChatGPT’s API.
-
Days 71–85: Testing with Doctors
- Once the app was ready, I approached a few doctors I knew and asked them to try it out.
- They loved it! The doctors said the app made it easier for their patients to ask follow-up questions about prescriptions.
- I even managed to collect ₹4,00,000 from these doctors as a personal investment. They trusted me enough to support the project!
-
Day 86–90: Selling the Idea
- While sharing my progress on social media (on X, formerly Twitter), a company noticed my work. They were so impressed that they offered me ₹20,00,000 to buy the entire software and its idea.
- I couldn’t believe it! After a little back and forth, I sold it. (After negotiation, They paid extra 2 lakhs which then I refunded to doctors, So, effectively I got 18 Lakhs)
Why I Sold It
You might be wondering—if it was such a good idea, why sell it? Well, here’s why:
- Too risky for me: Healthcare apps can get into legal trouble if anything goes wrong. I didn’t want to deal with all that.
- The money was great: ₹20,00,000 is a lot of money, especially for a student. It felt like the right time to cash out.
- Better future for the app: The company that bought it has more resources to grow it properly.
What I Learned
Looking back, here are a few things I learned:
- Find a real problem to solve: Instead of trying to replace AI, I found a way to make it easier and safer for people to use.
- Work with experts: The doctors I spoke to gave me valuable feedback and made the app better.
- Share your journey: Posting about my work on social media helped me get noticed.
- Know when to let go: Selling the app felt right at the time, and I don’t regret it.
This whole experience taught me that even simple ideas can become huge if you put in the effort. If you’ve got an idea, don’t overthink it—just start working on it. Who knows? It might change your life too!
